Start the Year Out Right With a Concierge Medicine Physical

Start the Year Out Right With a Concierge Medicine Physical

Annual physicals are one of the easiest ways to age gracefully and identify chronic health problems early on, but only about one-fifth of American adults get them. If you’ve been putting an annual physical off, the new year is the perfect time to take action.

At Russak Personalized Medicine, our team provides concierge medicine physicals to individuals and families. Keep reading to learn how concierge medicine works and what to expect during an annual physical.

What is concierge medicine?

Concierge medicine provides preventive and general health care to individuals and families. We offer two types of concierge medicine plans — annual packages ($2,600 for individuals; $4,600 for families) and quarterly memberships ($700 for individuals; $1,200 for families).

After you pay the required fee, you get complete access to preventive services, like vaccines and physicals, as well as chronic disease management, hormone therapy, and more.

Since concierge medicine is fee-based, we see fewer patients. This results in easier scheduling, less waiting, and more one-on-one time with your doctor.

I’m healthy; Do I need a concierge medicine physical?

If you feel well and don’t have any complaints, scheduling an annual physical might seem like a hassle. However, it’s one of the best decisions you can make. That’s because many health problems, including diabetes and high blood pressure, don’t present obvious symptoms. So, you could be at risk and not know it.

An annual exam with our caring team can provide peace of mind and catch potential problems when they’re easiest to treat.

Concierge medicine physical: What to expect

A concierge medicine physical is similar to a regular physical. The only difference is you have more time to spend with your doctor.  Here’s what to expect:

1. Review of your medical history and vital sign check

First, your doctor reviews your medical records and asks about your lifestyle, including your diet, sleep schedule, and stress levels. Tell them if you take any prescription or over-the-counter medications.

Likewise, let them know if you smoke, drink alcohol, or use drugs. Your provider won’t judge you, but this information provides key insights into your health.

Next, your doctor weighs and measures you, takes your blood pressure, and listens to your heart and lungs.

2. Medical examination

After gathering a complete picture of your health and lifestyle, your doctor performs a physical exam. More specifically, they:

Your provider may also administer vaccines (if you’re due for any) or order lab tests, like blood work and urinalysis.

3. A summary of your visit

At the end of a concierge physical, your doctor tells you about any health concerns they have. They also let you know if you need additional testing or a referral to a specialist.

During this part of the visit, speak up and ask questions if you have them. We’re committed to providing a comfortable patient experience and encourage everyone to speak freely.

If the physical exam confirms you’re in good health, your doctor schedules your next exam a year out. As soon as we receive your lab test results, we call and explain them.
